Comparing cancer immunotherapy outcomes in Black and white patients
A study using Veterans Health Administration records compared survival and immune-related adverse events in Black and white patients receiving cancer immunotherapy.
The study in The Lancet Oncology examined patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors. It found similar overall survival and fewer severe immune-related side effects among Black patients. These observational findings motivate further work to understand differences in adverse events.
