Conceptual illustration of combining evidence from studies of long COVID.

Our systematic review and meta-analysis combined evidence from 50 studies to examine long COVID prevalence across regions, follow-up periods, and hospitalization status. Published in 2022, the analysis reflects evidence from earlier in the pandemic. Differences in diagnostic definitions complicate comparisons across studies, while changes in vaccination and circulating variants may affect the burden of persistent symptoms over time.
